Professor Georgy Safonov is a Professorial Research Fellow at the Institute of Public Policy and Administration, where he is engaged in research and educational activities in climate change economics, sustainability, and the green economy. Prior to this appointment, he served as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI, France), Principal Scientist at the European Forest Institute (Finland), and Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Environmental and Natural Resource Economics at the Higher School of Economics (Russia).
Dr Safonov holds a PhD in Economics from Lomonosov Moscow State University and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, reports, and international assessments. His research interests include sustainable development, green innovation, energy and industrial transitions, and the socio-economic dimensions of climate-neutral growth.
